The CSGA was formed in 1982 by a group of golfers led by Ogle Hess to promote camaraderie among golfers in the Wilmington, NC area by playing several different venues during the year.

Today with over 175 members CSGA plays nine tournaments from March through November usually on the first Monday of each month.  Each tournament is played at a different course and are team events with multiple formats except for one tournament each season. That tournament is individual medal play for points and the Ogle Hess trophy which goes the low gross winner. There are additional trophies for the low net in each of four flights.

The season finishes with a sit down dinner the Sunday evening after the November tournament where wives and significant others are invited.

Players earn points based on their team’s finish in each tournament and for closest to the hole on Par 3’s. There is also a separate Skins tournament at each event. Points accumulate over the season and are turned into cash coupled with skins winnings are paid at the closing dinner.
